Robocall trends in July 2023

Here’s a quick review of robocall trends through July 2023. The scam robocall statistics are improving. Let’s have a look.

The source data is from YouMail’s Robocall Index, a widely followed measure of robocall activity in the U.S.

Overall robocalls down in July

Figure 1 shows that overall robocalls were down in July for the second straight month following their peak in May 2023. The dashed green line shows that the linear trend for robocalls has been increasing slightly over the past six months.

The bar chart at the bottom of Figure 1 compares robocalls in each month with the same month in 2022. Every month in 2023 has had more robocalls than the same month in 2022.

Figure 2 shows that scam robocalls were down sharply in July from a peak set in May 2023. The dashed green line shows that the linear trend for scam robocalls has been decreasing slightly over the past six months.

The bar chart at the bottom of Figure 2 shows that scam robocalls in July 2023 were down sharply from June 2022.
