OSP ToolkitTM V.2.8 is Available for VoIP Developers

Atlanta, Georgia USA –– Version 2.8 of the OSP Toolkit is now freely available for download from www.transnexus.com.  The OSP Toolkit provides everything needed to quickly and reliably implement an Open Settlement Protocol client in VoIP devices.  The Toolkit includes source code written in ANSI C, test tools and thorough documentation.  In addition, an OSP server is freely accessible for developers to test their OSP client implementation.  Improvements in OSP Toolkit version 2.8 include:

  • Improved enrollment function

  • Supports a broader range of OSP authorization tokens

  • Supports routing and accounting based on trunk groups

  • Improved log messages

  • Improved integration with Windows applications

  • Support for Microsoft Visual.Net

  • Changes to accommodate Linux developers

The Open Settlement Protocol (OSP), defined by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (www.etsi.org), is the global standard for secure inter-domain call authorization, routing and accounting.  OSP provides a flexible, open standard for managing and billing intercarrier traffic for both H.323 and SIP networks.  The number of vendors supporting OSP in their products continues to grow and includes Alcatel, Cisco, Commworks, Ericsson, Mediaring, NEC, Radvision, SS8 and others.

Major carriers have chosen OSP as a core billing support system/operations support system (BSS/OSS) protocol because its security and accounting features support a wide range of VoIP devices and multiple VoIP protocols.

“NTT Worldwide Telecommunications (NTT-WT) selected OSP over proprietary solutions when we decided to expand the NTT Clearinghouse in 2002.  We required an open, standards based solution that we can evolve as our business grows.  An OSP based solution provides us with the flexibility to support new vendors and new protocols, which gives us much more business opportunities.”

Terufumi Maki, Director, IP Service Department

NTT Communications

“PRIMUS has been using OSP as critical VoIP infrastructure technology since 2000.  OSP has given us the ability to securely authorize and route traffic, as well as collect CDRs from our customers in real time regardless of device type or VoIP protocol.  From network transport to support systems, PRIMUS delivers a global VoIP platform of the highest quality.”
